Seven from Dhemaji take part in Bal Shree

SILAPATHAR, Nov 12 - Seven participants from Dhemaji district participated in the Bal Shree Honour 2015 scheme in creative story writing, scientific innovation, science model making, creative arts � painting and visual crafts, vocal music and dance � on October 31 and November 1 at the Jawahar Shishu Bhavan, Kolkata, in West Bengal.

Under the initiative of the Dhemaji DC, Ajit Kr Bordoloi and Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Pegu, the students were sent to Kolkata. In the State-level competition, several students in the age group of 10-16 of the North-East and West Bengal participated in the two-day programme. The selected candidate will be eligible to participate at the national level competition in New Delhi.

A teacher of Sissiborgaon Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Bandana Pait Doley accompanied the team as girl students� escort, guardian Sukheswar Mipun as boy students� escort, and guardians Gunadhar Doley and Gokul Chutia.

A former student of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and Dibrugarh Mising HSS student Tinkumoni Pegu performed Mising folk song �Kaban� in the creative folk music category, while a former student of KGBV and now a student of Silapathar Residential HSS, Muhini Pegu performed Mising folk dance under the category of folk dance.

A student of Dhemaji Girls� HSS, Biswajyotishmana Chutia, exhibited a science project while students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dhemaji participated in creative visual arts designing, Nabanit Buragohain in graphics and Digital art, Pulakesh Gogoi in creative story writing, Sanju Newar in creative science model making and Gabriel Anuj Mipun in painting.

The students also visited Kolkata Science City, Victoria Memorial, Kolkata Alipur Zoo, New Market, Eden Gardens, Park Street, Assam Bhavan, Victoria Memorial etc.
