Separate road mishaps claim 6

GUWAHATI, Jan 1 - Altogether six persons lost their lives in different road accidents that took place in various places of the city during the past 24 hours. According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pranjit Bora, a person died at Gorchuk and another in Fatasil area. Another road accident claimed two lives at Bharalumukh while two persons were killed in a mishap that took place in the Basistha area.

Eight persons sustained injuries in altogether 11 road mishaps across the city.

Last night, during the New Year celebrations, police also detected 366 cases of traffic rule violations. From the offenders, police collected Rs 1,02,000 as penalty and registered 255 non-FIR cases.
