Sensex hits best intra-session high in 34 months

By The Assam Tribune

Mumbai, Nov 4 (PTI): The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today surged by 397 points to touch a 34-month intra-day high of 20,863 points following robust capital inflows amid strong corporate earnings.

The 30-share index climbed by 397.94 points to 20,863.68 points at 1400 hrs to match with the level last seen in January 2008.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty spurted by 110.50 points to 6,271.00, supported by a rally in stocks of oil and gas, metal, auto and banking segments.

Analysts said the current bull run on the boures was mostly driven by steady inflow of capital inflows by foreign funds after the Federal Reserve announced that it would pump more funds to revive struggling US economy and strong corporate earnings.
