GUWAHATI, March 28 A group of senior officials from the Kamrup Metro district administration on Friday visited the Deepor Beel and the areas around Pamohi river.
The visit comes a few days after the district administration prohibited any earth filling or other such activities in the vicinity of the beel.
Officials said the visit was intended as a precursor to carry out eviction of illegally-constructed walls and other structures in the vicinity of both the places.
It is noteworthy that the Circle Officers of Guwahati and Azara had recently submitted a detailed report stating that there is no permanent encroachment in the Deepor Beel and along the Pamohi river.
