By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 28 - The fourth biennial session of Rupnagar Srimantapur Birubari Senior Citizens Association was held at Rupnagar Sahitya Sabha Bhawan under the presidentship of Dr Dharanidhar Goswami on Sunday.

Addressing the meeting as chief guest, senior journalist DN Chakravartty said that advancement of science which had made transplantation of most of the parts of the human body a reality, has now made it possible for the modern man to aspire to live for at least 125 years. But mere long life, Chakravartty said, would be futile if there are no peace, happiness and harmony in human society, he said.

Purnalal Senapati, an octogenarian social activist and writer, while releasing the mouthpiece of the association Prajna, described his personal experience of taking up the pen for literary exercise at the age of 80. He has been writing consistently for the past five-six years. Three elderly citizens of the locality were each felicitated.
