Seminar on legal matters held at Nagaon

NAGAON, May 3 � A seminar on legal matters was organised by the Advocates� Association of Nagaon recently and it was chaired by its president Rebat Ch Mahanta.

Senior advocates including Pradyut Bora and Debabrata Sharma and retired judge and practising lawyer Mahammad Habibullah were present at the seminar as resource persons.

The speakers discussed the type of law necessary to deal with the present-day crime, administrative angles of the laws, RTI etc. They also shed light on the problems faced by the advocates while appearing in the courts.

Advocate Mahanta, from the chair of the president, called upon the legal practitioners to lead the society in this crucial juncture. Advocates should be sympathetic mainly to the clients who come from financially weak backgrounds, he added. At the outset, secretary Dulal Sharma explained the significance of the function.
