AIZAWL, July 4 � Supply Reduction Service (SRS), an anti-drug squad of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association, today burnt seized drugs worth around Rs 20 lakh.
SRS chairman J Lalsailova said the SRS has seized drugs valued at over Rs 358 lakh during the past few months and majority of the seized contraband was handed over to the State Excise and Narcotics department and police along with the carriers.
The drugs destroyed today included around 500 gram of heroin and 1.08 lakh Methamphetamine tablets. The YMA has been conducting an anti-drug campaign in the state since 2005 bringing down the annual drug-related deaths from 143 in 2004 to 42 in 2005, he said. � PTI
