GUWAHATI, May 15 - Top seed Anshumannath Deepaknath, second seed Ved Aditya Kalita and third seed Antariksh Tamuly crashed out in the singles quarterfinals by losing to their respective opponents in the ongoing AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-14 years at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex in Chachal here.
In the girls singles semifinals, Namrata Das of Assam ousted her State-mate Nayanika Deka in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. In the other semifinal unseeded Tania Kumari of Assam caused a major upset by defeating Sumeira Jaishwal of West Bengal in three gruelling sets 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-2.
Tomorrow the boys singles semifinals will start at 8:30 am and it will be followed by the girls singles and boys doubles finals.
