Security tightened in Baksa ahead of I-Day

BARAMA, Aug 10 � Security measures have been tightened in the entire Baksa district with just a few days to go for the Independence Day.

Patrolling in the interior places has also been intensified. Police are keeping a strict vigil in the parade ground so that the programmes of the Independence Day could be smoothly conducted.

Meanwhile, the district administration has imposed Section 144 under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Baksa district area, banning activities like assembly of more than five people at a place and carrying of arms which may lead to law and order problem. Checking of vehicles is being done frequently at a few places. The police are cracking the whip on people for violating traffic rules.

VDP workers in the rural areas are also on the alert. Army and CRPF jawans have been kept ready to control any untoward activities. People have been asked not to loiter at night. Curfew has been clamped in Baksa during the night hours following sporadic incidents of disturbance.

The Baksa district administration has already prepared the agenda for the Independence Day celebrations.
