DIPHU, Aug 14 - Maximum security measures have been ordered by the district administration for checking any misadventure of ultra organizations and anti-social elements opposing the Independence Day celebrations in both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong autonomous districts.
Government establishments and vital installations have been placed under security envelop, beside police checking in isolated areas and fixed pickets have also been set up in small urban areas. Twelve fixed check points are monitoring vehicle movements in Diphu town. According to district police, all the police stations have been sounded red alert and have been instructed to maintain a strict vigil on the movement of ultra groups.
This year�s official Independence Day function has been organized at the playground of Diphu Government Higher Secondary School in place of Diphu stadium where Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will hoist the Tricolour and receive the guard of honor. The venue and its fringe areas have been decked up for the occasion.
