BARAMA, Aug 28 � Security measures have been beefed up in Baksa district following violent incidents that took place at Kaurbaha and other areas.
Army personnel stationed at Barama, Dhamdhama, Nathkuchi, Kumari kata, Mushalpur, Darangamela, Goreswar are prepared to thwart any untoward incidents. They are keeping a vigil on the antisocial elements who often try to create chaos here and there in Baksa district. Moreover, they are also busy patrolling day and night in sensitive areas and to help police to thwart any incidents in the district.
On the other hand, Baksa district police administration led by Baksa SP also adopted some precautionary measures with the help of CRPF personnel to maintain law and order in the entire district. Arrangements for checking vehicles are being made on the main roads of Baksa to prevent antisocial elements from entering the sensitive places to create disturbance in Baksa. Police and CRPF personnel are patrolling in some interior and minority-dominated villages in the district. Security personnel are not allowing four or five people to stand on the road together and SP Bir Bikram Gogoi is personally conducting patrolling in remote villages of some suspected areas. The SP also appealed to all sections of peoples in the district to maintain peace and harmony. The district police administration organized some public meetings to constitute peace committees in sensitive areas of Baksa district. The SP also requested all students organizations and non-political organizations to extend cooperation to the district administration for greater interest of peace and harmony.
On the other hand, the Army personnel are also in readiness to rush to trouble-hit areas when they are informed.
All the officers-in-charge of police stations in the district have asked to remain on alert. The village Defence Parties (VDPs) are being advised to check the arrival of new faces so that antisocial elements could not enter the villages during night hours. During night hours, fear psychosis prevails in some interior villages because of attacks by antisocial elements from their rival party.
Army personnel of Kumaon Regiment stationed at Barama and 12 Mahar Regiment stationed in Baksa area are geared up to move to some sensitive areas of the district to help people and restore peace and harmony. They are moving here and there during day and night to observe the situation.
