SHILLONG, Jan 25 Meghalaya police has taken precautionary measures to prevent any unwanted incident during Republic Day celebrations.

The step has been taken as the HNLC is a signatory to the boycott of the Republic Day celebrations called by eight proscribed militant groups operating in the Northeastern region.

The HNLC has not made its presence felt in the past nine years. This time around, intelligence inputs does not indicate that the Bangladesh-based cadres of the outfit have intruded into the State, stated the Meghalaya DGP on Tuesday.
