IMPHAL, Aug 13 - Security has been beefed up in Manipur in view of the Independence Day celebration on August 15.
Search operations have been intensified in the State capital and district headquarters of the valley districts particularly in Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur since the past few days.
The step has been taken in view of the total shut down called by CorCom, the Coordination Committee of major armed groups in Manipur from 1 am to 6.30 pm of August 15 to boycott Independence Day celebration in the region, according to reports.
Meanwhile, 15 police personnel/officers have been selected for Police Medal for Meritorious Service 2017 and Presidents� Police Medal for Distinguished Service, according to a press release.
The medals would be presented at the Independence Day celebration on August 15.
Inspector RK Tejbir and Inspector Shyamchoron Singh Asem would be conferred the Presidents� Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
