Secretariat staff body backs SAKP ceasework

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 18 - The Assam Secretariat Services Association (ASSA), which has been demanding unconditional scrapping of the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA) has extended its support to the ceasework announced by the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (Federal Employees Association of Assam) today.

In a statement, the ASSA has also requested the SAKP to exempt all emergency services in the State from the protest.

The ASSA has urged the State government to make necessary arrangements to introduce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Assam, saying that the CAA was going to nullify the provisions of the Assam Accord of 1985, which fixed March 25, 1971, as the cut-off date for deportation of all illegal immigrants irrespective of religion.

It further urged the State government to concentrate sincerely on resolving the long-pending issues plaguing the people of the State and the government employees.
