SDF flays Sikkim Govt for failure to tackle virus spread

By A Correspondent

GANGTOK, July 16 - The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has launched a tirade against the State Government for its alleged failure on tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting the recent spike in cases at a GREF camp in Rongli, SDF spokesperson MK Subba said that East district Deputy Commissioner Raj Yadav should be held accountable for the failure to make the district safe.

Subba also demanded that the Government should form an expert medical advisory committee to handle the health crisis. The SDF also called for testing facilities at the CRH Hospital, Manipal, and free COVID-19 tests.

Addressing a press conference here, the SDF spokesperson criticised the Government and the SKM party for allegedly holding programmes without maintaining social distancing. The Sikkim Government has no serious plans to fight the pandemic, he added. He urged the Government to arrange for home delivery of essential commodities in subdivisions which are under complete lockdown.
