School teacher kidnapped from city rescued

GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - Bharat Nath Dutta, who was kidnapped from the city by some miscreants on Friday evening, was rescued by Guwahati police late last night from the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border area.

According to the police a group of people who came in two four-wheelers first beat up Dutta on the premises of Shanti Niketan High School, Bamunimaidam where he works as a teacher, and then took him away. The incident took place around 3.45 pm on Friday when he was alone in the school.

�The family of the teacher informed us around 5.30 pm and by tracking the mobile phone of the victim, we came to know that the group was on way to Arunachal Pradesh. We contacted the Papum Pare district police administration of Arunachal Pradesh and they helped us in the rescue operation,� a senior official of Guwahati police said. But the police are yet to make any arrests in connection of the case.

�The victim was involved in conducting the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Examination for the past few years. During the course of investigation, we came to know that he had personal conflicts with the kidnapping group,� the police official said.
