GUWAHATI, Feb 13 � The Assam Public Works (APW), a rights group of the State, has in a memorandum to Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, alleged large-scale irregularities in the Agriculture Department of Assam.

The APW said that a Rs 700-crore scam took place during the regime of the previous Agriculture Minister in implementation of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) under the financial years 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.

�From the information obtained from the Director of Agriculture through RTI application, it has been revealed that more than Rs 700 crore were received by the Agriculture Department, Govt of

Assam, in the last four years and supply orders were placed for procuring necessary tools under both the RKVY and BGREI. However, on close scrutiny of documents obtained through the RTI, it is noticed that the guidelines for Extending Green Revolution to Eastern India do not contain annexure 5 and 6, and the printed pagination is altered by handwritten words/numbers,� it said in the memorandum, adding that more such anomalies were found.
