By Newmai News

AIZAWL, March 5 - Photos of Parliamentary Secretaries TT Zothansanga and H Zothangliana included in Mizoram Government advertisements are against the order of the Supreme Court, said PRISM officials. After studying the government advertisements in 2014, the Supreme Court had given an order to ban advertisements that promote political campaigns.

According to the guidelines, other than the President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India and deceased leaders, politicians pictures are not to be put up in newspapers. Due to the appeals from the States of Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the Supreme Court modified its order on March 18, 2016 permitting the photographs of Governors, Chief Ministers and Union and State Cabinet Ministers in government advertisements.

On the advertisement put up by Mizoram State Road Safety Council during Road Safety Week 2017 on February 6, the photo of Parliamentary Secretary TT Zothansanga was included in the advertisement. And on March 2, the Chapchar Kut Organising Committee put up the picture of Parliamentary Secretary H Zothangliana in an advertisement to promote the festival.
