Sattriya Sanskriti Divas celebrated

GUWAHATI, Nov 15 - The Guwahati Zila Sattra Mahasabha today celebrated Sattriya Sanskriti Divas under the aegis of the Srimanta Sankara Kristibikash Samiti, Paltan Bazar here with various programmes, to commemorate the Sattriya dance attaining the status of a major dance form of the country on this date 18 years back.

The Sattriya dance was declared a major dance form of India by the Sangeet Natak Akademi on November 15, 2000. The Guwahati Zila Sattra Mahasabha has been celebrating this date as Sattriya Sanskriti Divas.

On the occasion, earthen lamps were also lit on the Srimanta Sankara Kristibikash Samiti�s naamghar premises by the office-bearers of the Mahasabha district unit and the Kristibikash Samiti, stated a press release here this evening.
