SIVASAGAR, April 10 � A daylong programme with various events in memory of Joymoti Konwari was held at the ONGC Colony Open Pandal here under the aegis of the ONGC Workers� Mahila Samiti recently.
Attending the open meeting as the chief guest, novelist Mitali Phukon, in her address, spoke on the supreme sacrifice made by Sati Joymoti. Phukon said, �Sati Joymoti is still confined to a single community and not known throughout the nation. Sati Joymoti should be given due recognition as has been given to Queen Laxmibai.�
An episode from the life of Joymoti was also enacted through a play on the occasion.
