WILLIAMNAGAR, May 12 A day after five youngsters were caught and let off on bail in Tura, a six year-old girl was waylaid by an alleged Satan worshipper to a nearby graveyard with the intent to sacrifice her to the devil.
A girl studying in class I in a Williamnagar school was waylaid by one person and taken to a nearby graveyard when she was walking home alone after early closure of her school due to the death of a person.
The victim was kept confined in the graveyard and fed regularly. According to the young girl, she saw a few other boys join the kidnapper after which they began to pray by drawing insignias on the ground to call the devil. It was only due to the incessant crying and wails of the young girl that the group let her go. Though the incident happened on Friday evening, an FIR was filed only on Monday.
SP East Garo Hills (EGH) Davies Marak confirmed the incident and said an investigation has been launched. We are collating a few photographs for her to try and identify. Prima facie, it looks like the intent was to sacrifice the girl, said Marak.
Following the ban on devil worship in West Garo Hills, DC of EGH has also banned the worship in the district.
