GUWAHATI, Oct 15 � The Gauhati High Court has asked Kokrajhar MP Hira Sarania to appear before the court in connection with an election petition (3/2014), challenging his election to the Parliament as a representative of the Scheduled Tribe.
The court has asked the Registrar to issue a newspaper advertisement, asking the Kokrajhar MP to appear before it. Sarania had not appeared in the last two hearings, prompting the court to initiate the steps, advocate BB Narzary said.
Sarania, who won the last MP polls from the Kokrajhar constituency, was issued the ST certificate by the Tribal Sangha, which was later challenged by Janak Lal Basumatary who had also contested from the same constituency.
