Sarala Birla emerge champs

GUWAHATI, Nov 25 � Sarala Birla Gyanjyoti emerged champions in the Parijat Mazumdar Memorial All Assam (U-16) Inter School Cricket Tournament with a 20-run victory against South Point School in the final. In the close summit clash at the Latasil playground here today, Sarala Birla posted a comfortable total of 161 in 35 overs losing all the wickets. South Point School made a hot chase but failed to reach the target as they were all out for 141 in 31.4 overs.

Man-of-the-match Malay Anand wrecked the South Point innings with a four-wicket haul while his teammate Anindya Sharma remained top scorer with 43.

Abhinash Terang of South Point received the man-of-the-series award while Kaustav Hazarika of Sarala Birla was adjudged as the best batsman of the meet. Ayushman Paul of Sarala Birla and Abdul Aziz of Maharshi Vidya Mandir got the best bowler and best fielder awards. Anindya Sharma was chosen as the best wicketkeeper. The tournament was organised by the River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre.
