KOKRAJHAR, Dec 5 - The All Santal Students� Union (ASSU) today staged a three hours sit-in-demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner�s office, Kokrajhar demanding ST status to Santals living in Assam, creation of posts for Santali teachers from primary to HS School in Assam and land patta to Santals etc.
The dharna programme started around 10.30 this morning, in which hundreds of ASSU supporters participated with different posters and banners. They also shouted slogans in support of their demands.
Later, ASSU submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through the Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar.
