�Sankardev�s teachings can help establish a peaceful society�

MORIGAON, Feb 8 - The third-day programme of the 88th session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha started at 7 am today at the Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaroa Khetra with a nam-prasanga by children and women.

At 9 am, the flag-hoisting ceremony was held amidst enthusiasm. Kamala Kanta Gogoi, the newly elected president of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, hoisted the main flag along with another 88 flags.

In his speech, Gogoi appealed to the people of Assam to follow the path shown by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. �Bhagawat Bhraman�, a colourful procession, was participated by thousands of people.

The first open session of the Sangha was inaugurated by Bhabendra Nath Deka, the outgoing president of the Sangha.

Addressing the huge gathering, noted Vaishnavite scholar Bani Bhushan Shastri from Puri said Srimanta Sankardev�s teaching can help establish a peaceful society.

Among others, Jayanta Goyel, chief manager, ONGC, Debananda Goswami, president, Battadrava Satra Parichalana Samity, and few others also spoke on the occasion.

State BJP president Ranjit Das and State Revenue Minister Bhabesh Kalita also participated in the flag hoisting and cultural programme.
