GUWAHATI, Sept 13 - Renowned scholar Prof Amiya Dev will deliver the sixth Srimanta Sankardev Lecture of the Tezpur University on September 15 on �Tagore�s Puja songs in the background of Bhakti�.
Informing this, Prof Ranjit Kumar Dev Goswami, the Sankardev Chair Professor of the University, said that Prof Dev will deliver the lecture at the council hall of the university at 3.30 pm that day. Prof Dev is a former professor of Comparative Literature, Jadavpur University, and Vice Chancellor, Vidyasagar University (1995-99), Midnapore, West Bengal. Professor Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri, Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, will inaugurate the programme, said Prof Goswami.
Earlier, the Centre for Assamese Studies of the university had organised a national seminar on �Approaches to Sankardev: Text, Performance, Representation and History� on August 5 and 6 last.
Renowned Sankardev scholar, Prof Keshavananda Dev Goswami had inaugurated the programme on August 5 and scholars like Dipak Kumar Sarma, Bhadra Bora, Banikanta Sarma, Baniprasanna Misra, Pona Mahanta, Irshad Ali, Madan M Sarma, Pradipjyoti Mahanta, Maheswar Hazarika, Bijay Kumar Danta, Jyotirmoy Jana, Sunil Kumar Dutta, Chandan Kumar Sarma, Bibhash Choudhury, Amritjyoti Mahanta and Sanjib Pol Deka delivered lectures on various aspects of Sankardev�s text etc, said Prof Dev Goswami.
Prof Dev Goswami also informed that the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Jyotiprasad Rajkhowa, will deliver a lecture on Sankardev in the Koch Kingdom at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha auditorium of the university at 3.30 pm on September 23.
