Sankardev anniversary celebrations at Sissimukh

DHEMAJI, Sept 27 � A section of the Mising people who are devotees of Srimanta Sankardev have launched a new religious organisation Srimanta Sankardev Sarbuday Sangha, which is similar to the existing organisation Srimanta Sankardev Sangha.

The central committee of this religious organisation in collaboration with its anchalik committees at Sissi, Jorkata and Bengenagara is going to celebrate the 566th birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev at Baghbheta LP School premises in Sissimukh area within Dhemaji district on October 3-4 next with a two-day programme.

The programme will start at 7 am on the first day with gurubandana, installation of sarai and naam prasanga. At 8 am, the dharmadhwaja will be hoisted by Manik Chandra Taid, padadhikar of Srimanta Sankardev Sarbuday Sangha. It will be followed by sharan sibir where unmarried youths and married couples will be imparted sharan. This will be followed by singing of bhajans.

On the second day, the �Bhagawat yatra� will be taken out at 8.30 am. It will be followed by an open meeting-cum religious discussion which will be conducted by padadhikar Manik Chandra Taid. A discussion on the topic, �Significance of Ek Sharan Bhagawati Naam Dharma�will also be held in which the speakers will be Gajen Buragohain, Ghana Neog and Umesh Chandra Doley, secretary, Srimanta Sankardev Sarbuday Sangha.

The celebration committee has solicited the presence and cooperation of religious-minded people in the area irrespective of caste and community in the celebrations.
