Sankaradeva Sanskiti Samaj�s Puri Fesival from Dec 5

GUWAHATI, Dec 2 - In keeping with its tradition, the Puri Project of the Srisankaradeva Sanskriti Samaj will celebrate the Puri Festival 2018 at the Puri Srisankaradeva Naamghar with a three-day programme from December 5.

The Samaj said in a statement that the festival will start with a national seminar on Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva and the Bhakti Movement at 9 am of December 5. On the same evening, a cultural function will also be held. On December 6 morning, a Bhagawat procession will be taken out from the Srimanta Sankaradeva Naamghar to the Jagannath Temple. Deka Satriya of the Barpeta Satra Navajit Das will inaugurate the procession and the Bhagawat would be carried by Saranacaharyya Bimal Bhakat of Udalguri.

This will be followed by an open meeting to be presided over by Nareswar Deka, working president of the Puri Project of the Samaj. Burha Satriya of the Barpeta Satra, Basistha Deva Sarma will inaugurate the meeting.

Pandit Banibhusan Sastri of Puri will release the souvenir of the festival at the function. Dr Adwaitya Charan Dhal, former professor of Srijagannat Sanskrit University, Puri, will address the function as the distinguished guest, while former principal of Pragjyotish College Dr Dayananda Pathak and Gauhati University professor Dr Bimal Majumdar will address the function as the appointed speakers. At 5.30 pm that day, a cultural function will be held.

The day�s programme on December 7 will begin with the nitya-prasanga of Saranacharyya Birendranath Pathak at 8.30 am. This will be followed by a paalnaam under the direction of Navajit Das, the Deka Satriya of the Barpeta Satra.
