Sankalp Se Siddhi prog held at Tezpur

TEZPUR, Aug 27 - With the pledge for building a new India by 2022, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur organised a daylong programme, the New India Manthan: Sankalp Se Siddhi at the District Library on Saturday here with the objective of doubling the farmers� income by 2022 based on �Seven-point strategies�.

The programme was graced by the Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain, RP Sarma, MP, Tezpur, Brindaban Goswami, MLA, Tezpur LAC, Rupak Sarma, MLA, Nagaon LAC, Dr KM Bujarbaruah, Vice-Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat and MK Deka, DC, Sonitpur and the district heads of line departments viz., Agriculture, Fisheries, Veterinary and a host of Government officials, bankers, NGOs. Altogether 782 farmers participated in the programme.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp by Union Minister Rajen Gohain in the presence of other dignitaries which was followed by the welcome address by Dr PC Deka, Head, KVK, Sonitpur and administering of the �New India Manthan Pledge� by the Central Minister.

Participating as the resource person, Dr AK Tripathi, Director, ATARI, Zone-VI dealt at length on the significance of the programme. He also covered different aspects of doubling farmers income by 2022. Brindaban Goswami, MLA, Tezpur LAC spoke on different Government initiatives for doubling of farmers income. Rupak Sarma, MLA, Nagaon LAC appealed to the participants to take up agriculture for self-employment. RP Sarma, MP, Tezpur spoke on the different flagship programmes being implemented by the Union Government for boosting farm productivity and welfare of the farming community.
