SHILLONG, April 11 Meghalaya Chief Minster Mukul Sangma today told the Assembly that his government is trying to solve the boundary dispute with Assam in the true spirit of friendship and neighbourly relationship.

Sangma said, the issue of Block I and II along with all areas of boundary difference with Assam is being aggressively pursued with Assam and several rounds of talks were held in the recent past.

Sangma made the statement replying to a resolution moved by Paul Lyngdoh urging the State Government to request the Central government to amend the North Eastern Areas (Reorganization) Act, 1971 and enable the transfer of Block I and II to Meghalaya.

Requesting the Member from the Opposition to withdraw the resolution, he said the present resolution would dilute the March 2011 resolution adopted by the Assembly.
