Sangh Parivar creating intolerance: APCC

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - The Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and their fraternal organisations have created an unprecedented situation of intolerance in the country. This has been eroding the democratic values, vitiating the social atmosphere with communal hatred. This situation is facilitating fascism, alleged the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) in a statement here.

The utterances of the RSS, the Sangh Parivar and BJP leaders on the practice of beef eating, etc, are severe blows to the spirit of the countrys Constitution, and its secular and democratic polity. The deeds of the RSS and the BJP have created such a situation in the country that the cultural diversity of the Indian people is facing a serious crisis, the APCC alleged.

The Sangh Parivar is interfering with the food habits and lifestyles of the Indian people to derive political mileage. However, the State leaders of the BJP like Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddhartha Bhattacharyya are talking of change in the State government without bothering to tell the people as to what had led their party to backpedal from its avowed stand on the issues concerning the deportation of illegal migrants, the Indo-Bangla land swap deal and rise in the prices of essential commodities, among others, it said.

It also flayed the State BJP for its intolerant attitude towards intellectuals and writers like Dr Hiren Gohain, Homen Borgohain and Nirupama Borgohain for their stand on various socio-political issues, which are at variance with those of the BJP and its fraternal organisations.
