Sanction for prosecution against Vishal

GUWAHATI, May 5 � The Kamrup Metro district administration has given sanction for prosecution against Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Ltd and three individuals, including two directors of the company, in a case related to stocking of edible oil by Vishal Mega Mart, AT Road, without licence and has also ordered a sale of the seized items recovered from the retail hub.

In an official statement, the district administration said that a team of officials from various departments, including police, GMC, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, led by Sujata Shusibrata, EAC and Executive Magistrate of Kamrup Metro had conducted a joint inspection in Vishal Mega Mart, AT Road, Paltan Bazar, in September 2014. The inspection was carried out following orders from the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro.

�During their inspection they noticed that 5,427 litres of edible oil of various brands were stocked by that shopping mall without having a proper licence. On violation of the various provisions of Assam Trade Licencing and Control Order, 1982, the team seized the materials and kept the seized stock of edible oil in safe �zimma� (custody) of Rana Dutta, Store Manager of that institution,� said the statement.

�Examining the whole episode of illegal storage, Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner and Collector of Kamrup Metro district has ordered to sale that amount of edible oil which are in one litre and five litre poly packs at a price not exceeding the MRP fixed by the company and deposit the sale proceed into Government Treasury until the final outcome of the seizure case. He has also accorded sanction for prosecution against Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Ltd (Vishal Mega Mart), Rana Dutta, Store Manager, M/S Vishal Mega Mart, Paltan Bazar, two Chennai-based Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Ltd (Vishal Mega Mart) Directors R Vasudevan and R Seshadri,� it added.
