Samir Tanti, Ajit Bairi conferred literary awards

GUWAHATI, March 11 - The prestigious Ramanath Bhattacharya Foundation Literary Awards for 2017 instituted in the memory of Padmanath Vidyabinod and Ramnath Biswas will be presented to poets Samir Tanti of Assam and Ajit Bairi of West Bengal respectively.

This was announced at a press meet held at Guwahati Press Club today by the general secretary of the Foundation, Shyamashis Bhattacharya.

Bhattacharya, who is a Mumbai-based Hindi TV serial producer, said the awards would be presented to Tanti and Bairi at a function to be held at the Vivekananda Kendra, Uzanbazar here at 5 pm on March 18.

The awards carry a cash prize of Rs 51,000, a citation, a memento and a specially designed scarf on muga each.

A souvenir will also be released on the occasion by writer Mukti Choudhury.
