Samannay Award presented to Bhagawati

By Ramen Kalita

NALBARI, Nov 6 - Veteran journalist and Editor of Dainik Asam, Radhika Mohan Bhagawati was conferred the Samannay Award 2016 yesterday by Samannay Mancha, a leading organisation of Ghograpar in Nalbari district.

As the senior journalist was unable to attend the award-giving function due to indifferent health, the organisers presented the award at his residence this morning, which consisted of a memento, a citation, cash award, a brass metal jaapi, and a seleng sador, besides a bundle of books, among others.

The award was instituted by the Samannay Mancha of Nalbari. In a written message sent to the organisers, which was read out at the award-giving function, Bhagawati called upon the people to unitedly fight the enemy by putting up a united front in this land of Srimanta Sankaradeva and Azan Fakir.

He further said that the time was ripe to identify as to who was a friend or foe of the nation. As the unfortunate electorate of this State could no longer depend on their elected representatives to further their collective cause, he therefore urged the common people to remain united, no matter what the provocation may be in order to save the Assamese nation in this hour of peril.

The veteran journalist stated that rulers and administrators come and go, but the nation never dies. We should therefore not allow the nation to die at any cost, he said.

The function, presided over by Hamid Ali, president of Samannay Mancha, was addressed by Jogendra Kalita, Principal of Banbhag College, and Janendra Narayan Dev Goswami, Professor of Barkshetri College, among others.
