MORIGAON, Jan 23 - Active preparations are on to hold the 34th annual conference of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad at Morigaon with a three- day programme from January 28.
In this connection, an active reception committee was formed with Hemen Das, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon as president and Khagen Mahanta as general secretary. Several subcommittees were also formed. According to sources, more than 1000 delegates from various district units will take part in the conference. On January 28 at 2 pm, the delegates� camp will be opened by Swapnanil Deka, SP, Morigaon. This will be followed by the first executive committee�s meeting of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP). On January 29, the subject committee�s meeting will be formally opened by Basav Kalita, president, SAKP where several organisational matters will be reviewed. The first cultural night will be inaugurated by noted artist Rafiqul Hussain where noted singer Pankaj Bordoloi will take part.
On the last day, a cultural procession will be inaugurated by Rama Kanta Deori, MLA, Morigaon. The open session will be presided over by Basav Kalita, where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest and Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the guest of honour. In the function, a souvenir will be released by Hrishikesh Goswami, Media Adviser to the Chief Minister.
