GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today unveiled a life-size statue of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaroa at the Guwahati Club Rotary.
Unveiling the statue, the Chief Minister said that today is a red letter day for the State as a statue of Bezbaroa, who was the backbone of Assamese literature, has been installed at a prominent place in Guwahati.
Gogoi said that the great litterateur was a symbol of unity and integrity and his immense contribution to Assamese literature cannot be overlooked by anyone. He said that the statue would always remind the people of Assam about the contributions of Bezbaroa.
Earlier, PWD Minister Ajanta Neog delivered the welcome address. The function was also attended by senior government officials and sculptor Biren Singha, who made the statue.
