Sahitya Sabha honour to 12 literary figures

GUWAHATI, June 6 - The Sataborshiya Sahitya Sanman-2016 instituted by the Asam Sahitya Sabha will be conferred on 12 literary figures of the State for their contributions in enriching Assamese literature as well as Assamese social life with their creative and analytical works.

The award has been instituted synchronising with the centenary celebrations of Asam Sahitya Sabha.

The awardees are Dr Pranab Jyoti Deka for his research-oriented work Charjyageet and Bouddha Tantra, Manoj Kumar Goswami for his short story collection Manoj Kumar Goswamir Galpa, Diganta Ojah for his work on Assamese social life Asomor Samaj Jivanar Bibartan, Anubhab Tulasi for his poetry collection Baraxunor Khetiok, Sibananda Kakati for his short story collection Boroneeyo Alibat, Nilim Kumar for his poetry collection Nilim Kumaror Shrestha Kabita, Jivan Narah for his poetry collection Momaideur Phuloni, Manikuntala Bhattacharya for her novel Bandha Gharar Khiriki, Pankaj Govinda Medhi for his novel Charai Chuburi, Abdus Samad for his novel Ban Kukurar Dak, Maya Baruah for her translation work Jhankar and Shekhar Das for his Bengali short story collection Koshagar, written against the backdrop of Assam.

The awards will be presented at a function to be held in Guwahati soon.
