DOOMDOOMA, Dec 26 - The 27th bi-ennial conference of Doomdooma branch of Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samity (SALSS) was held with a two-day programme starting December 24 at its office premises situated at Topubon of Rupai Siding here. The open session of the conference was held on Friday afternoon with Doomdooma branch SALSS president Dr Meena Devi Baruah in the chair. A felicitation booklet on the founder president of the branch and a retired Principal of Doomdooma College Beena Deka, published under the editorship of Kiranmoyee Hazarika Baruah was inaugurated in the meeting by the Principal of Doomdooma College Dr Prakash Jyoti Borthakur.
Another book written by Dipti Thakur Goswami was inaugurated by Dr Meena Devi Baruah while a music album composed by Dr Meena Devi Baruah and rendered by Runumoni Dutta Bhuyan was released in the meeting by Madhurjyya Mahanta, a radio artiste and the Head of the History Department of Doomdooma College. The wall magazine of the branch was inaugurated by retired Professor of Doomdooma College Pronita Handique.
The open session was also addressed by the president of Assam Science Writers� Association Dhiren Deka, former principals of Doomdooma College Beena Deka and Dr Prafulla Medhi and retired Education Officer Jogendra Nath Baruah. The prizes of the various competitions organised by the branch were distributed among the prize-winners in the meeting. The secretary of the branch Meera Saikia subsequently offered the vote of thanks.
On Thursday, the delegates� session of the conference was held in which a 26-member new executive committee of the branch was constituted with Kiranmoyee Hazarika Baruah as president, Deepa Dutta Bhajani as secretary and Aparna Senapati as treasurer for the next two years.
