Sabotage bid in hotel blast case ruled out

By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 16 The City Police today ruled out possibilities of any sabotage in the mysterious blast at Hotel Nezone at Garchuk in the city.

City Police Commissioner Jyotirmoy Chakravarty told The Assam Tribune that preliminary investigations suggested that the blast could have resulted from explosion caused by malfunctioning electrical equipment or LPG cylinders.

It is unlikely that the blast resulted from any subversive act. From what we have seen, the blast seems to have been triggered by malfunctioning electrical equipment or cooking gas cylinders. However, we are referring the matter for further examination by experts, he said.

It has been alleged by some quarters that the National Students Union of India (NSUI) had a hand behind the incident.
