GUWAHATI, April 7 - The Asam Sahitya Sabha will felicitate all distinguished octogenarian people of the State at their respective doorsteps on the first day of Bohag the first month of the Assamese calendar year.
Sabha general secretary Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi has appealed to all the district and branch units of the literary body to initiate steps for successful implementation of the decision.
The Sabha has, by this time, prepared a citation and a jatiya barshapanji (records of events that happened on each day of the year). To collect these materials, Rajbongshi has requested all Sabha branches to contact the Sabha headquarters at Jorhat or its Guwahati office directly, or, through their respective district offices.
The Sabha has also made arrangements to make the audio CD Mahajeevanar Gaan, that contains the musical track of O Mor Aponar Desh, at its local offices.
The Sabha members should also meet the septuagenarians who are bed-ridden and offer them Bihuwan.
This felicitation programme will continue till the third date of Bohag, Rajbongshi said.
