JORHAT, Sept 6 - Coinciding with the birth centenary celebration of renowned scholar Dr Maheswar Neog, the Asam Sahitya Sabha today renamed its research institute as Prachyarnav Dr Maheswar Neog Kendriya Asom Tatwa Gavesana Sangsthan. Earlier it was known as Kedriya Asom Tatwa Gavesana Sangsthan.
In the presence of several office-bearers of the literary body, president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora announced that the research institute has been named after the former president and scholar who contributed immensely towards the research on Assamese language and literature.
Dr Bora hoped that the institute would play a significant role in the future research and development of the language and literature of the State.
