GUWAHATI, Oct 20 � The Asam Sahitya Sabha would take up the issue of establishing its cultural centre in Delhi with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.
The Sabha has invited Sheila Dixit in the valedictory function of year-long celebration of Pandit Tirthanath Sarma�s birth centenary on October 23, 2011. The former President of India and acclaimed scientist Dr APJ Abul Kalam would deliver his speech as the chief guest of the occasion.
Addressing the media here, Sabha general secretary Paramananda Rajbongshi today said that the literary body would also talk with Dixit about the issues concerning security of the students of the Northeast in the National Capital.
�Last year also, we informed her about our plan to establish a cultural centre in Delhi and naming a road after Srimanta Sankardev. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has also promised to extend his support in this regard,� said Rajbongshi.
The valedictory function of the birth centenary celebration of former Sahitya Sabha president Pandit Tirthanath Sarma would be held at Pragjyoti Cultural Complex, Machhkhowa from 10.30 am onwards.
