Rush of ticket aspirants at Rangiya

RANGIYA, Dec 20 � With the announcement of dates for Panchayat polls in the State, hectic lobbying by the different political parties and their ticket aspirants has gained momentum here in recent days.

Individual party strategy has already started among them for the ensuing polls, with the ruling Congress, CPM, AGP and BJP gearing up preparations.

Among the two Zila Parishad (ZP)s of Rangiya constituency, in case of the Pub Borigog ZP seat, ticket aspirants seen to have opted different poll war tactics to book their names in the party ticket holders� list. In this regard, the ruling Congress party is most likely to face a tough challenge as deprived party worker may play spoilsport and turn the ensuing poll statistics topsy turvey.

Names of Debabrat Kalita and brother of the present local MLA Ghanashyam Kalita, senior party leader Umesh Kalita, youth Congress leader Raj Babbar, former NSUI leaders-Harun Rashid and Debajit Kalita have been mostly discussed as intending aspirants of the party for the Panchayat polls.

Meanwhile, another section of ticket aspirants are desperately trying to get some help and blessings from Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhubaneswar Kailta, which is another issue of gossip with the poll fever heating up among the party workers. While the said ZP seat is under CPM hold, so this time Congress party would try its best to regain the seat. But observers feel that the final allotment of party seats are likely to depend on the follow-up green signal from the APCC president Kalita as Rangiya being his home constituency. On the other hand, among the CPM party ticket aspirants� names, Maranjana GP president Parvez Arif, Communist leader Biren Sarma and Prabhat Sarma are being pronounced. Similarly, among the AGP party ticket aspirants, names of social worker Samsul Haque, Rangiya dist AGP adviser Pradip Kakati, former student leader Mozammil Haque and Pankaj Deka have been mostly discussed. In case of BJP, as per sources names of youth leader Bhabesh Deka, north Kamrup BJP VP Prabin Karji nad Rangiya block BJP president Paresh Kakati exist in the list of aspirants. It needs mention here that under the Pub Borigog ZP there are around 30,000 voters and include Chepti Nakul, Padum Kunwari, Marnjana, Borigog, and Dimu Dobok GPs. It would be interesting to see the overall poll preparation scenario in the coming days in which role of deprived candidates would be crucial in case of all the parties.
