Rural librarian sans pay for 8 years

JAMUGURIHAT, oct 30 - Jonali Saikia, librarian of Binapaani Rural Library, Barhampur, Jamugurihat, the second biggest rural library of Assam is serving for the last eight years without recieving any pay.

She was appointed as rural librarian of the library on 16/10/2008 vide memo no. DLT/VLP/PT-III/2008-09 on the recomendation of the Tezpur District library but till now she has not reciceved her salary.

It may be noted here that established in 1929, the library has rare and valuable collection of magazines and journals like Arunudoi, Banhi, Awahan, Deepak etc., and many rare and priceless history books, which have been used by various scholars for their research works.

Jonali Saikia has time and again requested the authority concerned to release her pay but in vain. She has also appealed to the Cultural Affairs Minister, Government of Assam through the local MLA, Padma Hazarika but to no avail.
