Ruling alliance endorses Nagaland Govt response

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, July 10 - The ruling Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) today endorsed the July 2 statement of the Nagaland Government issued in response to Governor RN Ravis letter to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on June 16. The PDA comprises the NDPP, BJP and an Independent MLA, besides three other legislators who had shifted allegiance from the NPP (two) and the JDU (one).

The State Government had said that the Governors assessment of the law-and-order situation being precarious and grim and having deteriorated since August 2019, does not appear to be factual.

Adopting a six-point resolution in a meeting at the Chief Ministers residential complex in Kohima, the PDA rejected the demand of the Opposition parties, asking the PDA Government to step down.

The PDA is a democratically elected government that enjoys the mandate of the people which has been reinforced in successive Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections, the resolutions signed by PDA convener and NDPP president Chingwang Konyak and PDA co-convenor and BJP State president Temjen Imna Along said. The ruling alliance asserted that it would continue to carry out its Constitutional duties with utmost commitment and dedication in the greater interest of the people.
