Rs 7.15 crore released for renovation of institutes

NALBARI, March 2 - An amount of Rs 7.15 crore has been released for the renovation of buildings of the two-century-old and leading educational institutions of Nalbari town � Gurdon HS School and Devi Ram Pathshala HS School.

Addressing a press conference held at the district BJP office here, Nalbari LAC MLA Ashok Sarma said the government has taken a slew of initiatives to save the historic Gurdon HS School and released an amount of Rs 5.84 crore. The main building of the school which is in a deplorable state will be renovated with this amount.

Sarma said another Rs 1.31 crore has been released for the reconstruction of the dilapidated buildings of Devi Ram Pathshala HS School. Both the educational institutions have been playing a vital role in the uplift of academic environment in the district.

The MLA further said the government has also released an amount of Rs 5.16 crore for the construction of an indoor stadium with a modern swimming pool on the land of North Kamrup Stadium near the Gurdon field.

An amount of Rs 25 lakh has also been released for the repair work of the Nalbari Natya Mandir, the only public auditorium of the town.
