GUWAHATI, July 14 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today announced an award of Rs 50 lakh to athlete Hima Das. He further announced that she would be appointed as the State�s sports ambassador.
Hima, who brought laurels to the nation and the State by becoming the first Indian athelet to win gold in track events at world championships, will also be felicitated by the government at a function tomorrow, an official release said.
PTI adds: Hima Das will be provided �end-to-end� support towards her preparation for 2020 Tokyo Olympics under the government�s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
