GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - Miscreants on motorcycle allegedly snatched a bag containing Rs 40 lakh from three personnel of a security and facility management service firm while they were transporting it from a bank to another bank.
The incident took place in front of the Federal Bank branch at Fancy Bazar in the city.
Police said two personnel of Visual Securas Ltd and their driver were transporting Rs 80 lakh (in two bags) from the bank to the Industrial Bank at Bhangagarh in a van.
�However, they claimed that some miscreants on motorcycle snatched the bag containing Rs 40 lakh from the driver outside the bank,� a police official said.
But police, wondered, how a bag containing Rs 40 lakh (Rs 500 notes), which would weigh several kg, can be snatched so easily.
Police have picked up the driver, the two custodians and a security personnel who was supposed to be with the team, but was not. �There is a laid-down SoP to be followed while transferring cash. But there were lapses. Why no security personnel was accompanying the team?� a police official said.
