Rs 33.34 lakh given to CM�s Relief Fund

GUWAHATI, Dec 16 - The employees of Digboi Refinery and Marketing contributed their one day salary amounting to Rs 33,34,934 to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund today. The IOCL (AOD) Labour Union handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his office chamber at the Janata Bhawan here.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum to Sonowal, seeking his intervention in setting up a new unit of IOC Marketing for the NE region by the Union Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas in line with other four regional units of the public sector undertaking.

They also demanded shifting of all functions of the Assam Oil Division, Marketing from its eastern region office in Kolkata to the AOD, Digboi and also augmenting the refining capacity of Digboi Refinery.

The Chief Minister assured that he would take up their demand with the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas for necessary action.

Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, who was also present at the time of handing over the cheque, informed the refinery delegation that he would also pursue the matter with the ministry concerned. The delegation was led by Tarun Hazarika.
