NAGAON, June 7 - To highlight the life and ideals of Shri Shri Badala Padma Ata among the new generation, the State Government has declared a grant of Rs 1 crore to build the Shri Shri Badala Ata Kala Khetra and Rs 10 lakh for the development Jagannath Temple at Dhing. This was informed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while attending the 471th anniversary of Shri Shri Badala Padma Ata at Dhing on June 6. The event was organised by the Shri Shri Badala Padma Ata Sewa Samity in cooperation with the people of Dhing with a three-day programme.

Addressing the function, Sonowal said that Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva worked not only for spiritual uplift but also worked for the development of culture, literature etc. At this crucial juncture of the world, his importance has only increased, he added.

He called upon the people, especially the youth to spread the ideals of Sankaradeva among the people of the world. He also recalled the contributions of Badala Padma Ata in the field of spreading of Vaishnavite religion and culture.

Sonowal also highlighted the role of Mahapurush Sankaradeva in saving the green belt through his message �Ek Brikhya Daha Putra Samo.� The satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra, Janardan Deva Goswami was on the chair where minister Keshab Mahanta, MLA Rupak Sarma, Rama Kanta Deuri, Rituparna Baruah, satradhikar Basistha Deb Phukan, Nagaon DC Shamsher Singh, Morigaon DC Hemen Das and others were present. In the beginning, MLA Angurlata Deka welcomed the guests by presenting a borgeet.

A souvenir Padmanjali was formally released by the VC of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva Vishawvidyalaya Dr KK Deka on the second day of the function.
